About the Event
Millions of people are hurt or killed by injuries every year due to inadequate response or lack of timely assistance. First aid is by no means a replacement for emergency services; it is a vital initial step in providing effective and swift action that helps to reduce the severity of injuries and improve the chances of survival.
The Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are today the major first aid providers in the world. Around 36,000 facilitators and 770,000 volunteers are working worldwide to offer their services to their communities and provide first aid assistance. In 2020, approximately 23 million people were trained in first aid by Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies in 101 countries around the globe.
